Our community celebrates diversity in its many forms, including sexuality, gender, kink, religion, and race. We are at the forefront of standing up for disabilities as well and provide accommodation for people with physical challenges of various forms, including reduced scent environments. We provide helpful information for those of us who suffer from depression and other forms of mental illness, providing a safe place to talk about our challenges. But one area of challenge in our community is around the topic of neurodiversity. Neurodiversity is the idea that neurological differences are recognized, understood and accepted. These include many forms of invisible disabilities, including Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Dyscalculia, Autistic Spectrum, Tourette Syndrome, as well as others. Individuals with neurological differences in the kink community speak of feeling marginalized and excluded, while kink organizers struggle with issues of wanting to provide an atmosphere that feels safe and welcoming to all. Come join The Eulenspiegel Society on 3/24 for our second discussion on this important topic.
The discussion will be facilitated by Vir Cotto, a kinkster and occasional presenter. Vir identifies as neuro-divergent, having learning disabilities and ADHD. Struggling with the challenges associated with being “twice exceptional” Vir has an understanding of these challenges of being “different” and can share his insight on both the difficulties that neuro-non-typical people feel, as well as the challenges associated with creating a welcoming, accommodating spaces. Vir Cotto is a kinkster living in New York City and Vancouver, Canada. He’s also a vanilla geek with a focus on individual empowerment and taking back control of your technology. Vir been involved with the BDSM community since 2015 and has volunteered and presented for TES in the past. In his spare time, he likes to write about BDSM and his journey. Both inside and outside of Kink, Vir likes to let his geek flag fly.
